The building allows a nursery which is totally developed in the ground floor level. It is located in Can Nebot, near Ibiza Village. It’s in a quiet neighbourhood of single-family houses. The project appears as one of them. The building site is a garden which also contains a small house for children in the middle. The user requirement programme is simple: four classrooms with a bath area, a multifunctional room, services and facilities, a changing room for the staff, kitchen and a small dining area for teachers and, also, the director’s office.
The structure is made of concrete walls which encloses different volumes and allows the classrooms to be connected with the outside towards the good orientation and the courtyard. A serial number of skylights drive light to the corridor and also classrooms while it offers qualified spaces and a variety of shapes.
The playground is covered with a permeable roof made with recycled wood from the beach. As it protects the courtyard from sun, the space under this covering would be able for playing. In addition, all the interior walls are fitted with blackboard so as to allow drawings of children landscapes. Both outside and inside elements are conceived in children scale.
