Wappwolf for Box Will Make You Howl with Delight:
I’m always on the lookout for cool integrations that help users get the most of out their Box content. One of the most interesting tools I’ve come across is Wappwolf, which allows you to connect services like Flickr, Twitter, and Slideshare to Box. When you add a file to a predefined folder in Box, Wappwolf monitors it, and then takes action based on the rules you specify. With just a few clicks, you can automate countless tasks for your content.
Here are a few examples that I’ve setup for my personal workflow:
Convert all documents in a folder to a PDF
I like to save documents in their native file formats, like .docx for editing. If I need to send a copy to someone outside of the organization, sending a pretty PDF that doesn’t contain all of my past versions and revision history is preferred. Using this action in Wappwolf, all my documents also have a PDF version created automatically.
Convert audio in a folder from any format I upload to MP3
While I’m out and about, I like to send reminders to myself or notes to friends. By storing them in the cloud, I can easily share audio using a secure link, and preview them in their browser without having to download the file. At work, you could use this to record an important meeting, or to share voice notes and reminders with a team.
Copy photos from a folder to Facebook. Sometimes I like to share photos on Facebook while still archiving a copy in Box. If I need to edit it later, I have a copy synced to the cloud, and don’t have to worry about exporting data from Facebook. Using Wappwolf, I designed an activity that removes the EXIF camera data from the photo, stamps my name on the top right, and then uploads it to Facebook while saving a copy in Box. This is a great tool for people who need to take photos in the field, like insurance adjustors or delivery drivers.
