BTEK – Technology Interpretation Center / ACXT
BTEK is an interpretation centre for new technologies, aimed at student visitors. The site’s location, on one of the highest points of the Vizcaya Technology Park and close to the Bilbao airport’s flight path for takeoffs and landings, helps with the aim of making the building a landmark in its landscape (read more…)
House Gross / EM2N
From a present-day perspective the use of space in this 1960s development of single-storey row houses with basement seems wasteful. The layout of the estate is far from dense, and in terms of the density permitted by the building regulations there are reserves of potentially usable space. But exploiting the permitted density means conducting intensive negotiations with all neighbours affected before any new building project can be started (read more…)

Old stone walls and towering Parisian apartment blocks enclose this deep, irregular plot, acting as a setting for this gem-like elementary school. Playfully twisting through the site, the building’s serpentine form creates a dense series of courtyards and classrooms, leaving no corner unused. The choice of rich materials, bright colours and playful forms leaves users with a lasting impression, forming an identity for the school through its unique architecture (read more…)
Nirvana Mountain apartments / JVA
A slope in the Gudbrandsdalen valley generates narrow bodies following the contours of the land. Generous apartments are arranged 4 in each building, clad in large scale prefabricated wooden elements. The apartment types are tuned to the pleasant week-end life in the mountains. A second project; Nirvana 2 with 36 apartments, is situated uphill (read more…)

The city of Tijuana is in constant acceleration as it keeps pace with the people that rush to approach it with increasing intensity. It offers the virtue of contrast for this Learning Center clothed in aged wood. The façade bears no signs and no indication of what the building holds, rather it invites the curious visitor to find for himself a plaza where water pours slowly into a pool, calling the sun’s rays to dance on its surface (read more…)
